“Having a family involved in the horse industry, I saw show facilities all over the country. I realized that our area was in need of a well laid out equine complex where everything could happen under one roof so horses, contestants, and spectators could enjoy a show and weather would not be a factor. I also realized how important the horse experience is to a lot of people and how most of their favorite stories are built around the show ring. I think we’ve hit both marks with the Oregon Horse Center and it’s become a place where memories are made with horses, families, and friends. The Oregon Horse Center staff and I encourage you to visit us for a horse show, grab a bite to eat in ”The Feed Room Restaurant” and just enjoy a day in the life of the horse enthusiast.”

Major Defoe
Major Defoe spent years farming, manufacturing and selling boats, horse trailers and even hot tubs before he realized the need for a great show facility in the Pacific Northwest. His family had been showing horses up and down the west coast for years and the experience taught them what worked and what didn't. Fast forward twenty years and what started as a dream has turned into a premier equestrian facility including 275 acres with five indoor arenas and nearly 500 stalls. Major still manages all aspects of the facility and enjoys every minute of it. You will often see him taking pictures, designing trail courses, and attending different events to promote his dream!
Chris Sloan
Chris developed an avid love for photography at the age of 10. Over the years she has built that love into a career as a professional photographer. She started working here at The Oregon Horse Center in 2007. She started out as a photographer for the majority of the Horse Center shows and doing the creative design work for advertising, show premiums, signs and posters. She has also worked as the Co Director of the Eugene Pro Rodeo and a queen coordinator and adviser for the Eugene Pro Rodeo Queens since 2008. In addition to her other duties, Chris oversees the merchandising of the horse center.
